How to Use iPad as a Second Display
1: Air Display 2:
Download Air Display 2 (£6.99/$9.99) via the App Store on your iPad. Then, on your Mac or PC computer, go to getairdisplay.com to download and install drivers for it. Restart your computer. Click the Air Display icon on the computer menu bar and click on Connect. Your iPad will now be active as a second screen for it.
2: The Presentation Mode:
On the computer, click on the Air Display icon on the menu bar and then click on the Preferences cog wheel. Now locate and click on the Presentation Mode. This disables the iPad’s touch screen and enables you to control both displays via the computer. Disable it to re-enable the iPad’s touch screen and on-screen keyboard.
3: Work that screen:
So how do you use the iPad screen in practice? Your computer remains the principle command centre, so apps are loaded via this device. However, when they appear on the computer screen they can now be moved – not only around the computer’s screen but moved off the edge of that screen and onto the iPad’s display.
4: A resolution problem:
When viewing your iPad second screen, click on the menu bar and Preferences on the computer. Tick the Use Retina Resolutions option to squeeze more onto the second screen. If, however, the iPad display becomes difficult to read, disable this option to lower the resolution and improve readability and stack the open windows.
