One area where the portability of the iPad and the functionality of Maps really come into their own is when used as a method of navigation. Tap the Directions icon in the top left to get started and enter a start and end point in the relevant fields. You can then tap the Route button to have Maps plot out the best route for you.
Alternatively you can long-press on a map location to drop a pin. A prompt will appear above your newly dropped pin. Tap this to open a new menu where amongst the options you can plan a route to or from this particular location. In addition, many locations will have extra information included in the prompt window, such as opening times, user reviews, photos and more – which is particularly useful for restaurants or tourist attractions.
